Looking for a L-636 21 tooth generator gear for my No. 10 Auto Patrol. Same engine as a Twenty Eight tractor.

Thanks John

  • I have a 26tooth gear that came on the generator. The pitch is the same as the L-636 but the angle is different and obviously larger diameter than the 21tooth L-636. I’d part with it, but I can’t identify it.

I can not remember the part number right now but if I remember it will fit the D4400 and D4600 engines. I am working on a list of generator gear part numbers and what they fit. It will be a while before I get it done as I have to produce a paper every other week for my masters classes right now

I looked up a D4400 on sis and unfortunately no match. (it’s the black and white photo below)

I also added pictures of the generator itself and its Delco number.

I appreciate any help you have the time for… maybe if you know how to cross the Delco number to a cat number that would help? Also if you have an actual photo of a L-636 gear that might help me. I’m considering having one custom made at this point.

Delco 953R = Cat 1B5785

1B5785 uses a 3B2770 (26T) gear (info from 4G D4 parts book (D4400)

I posted a couple of picture on your other post. I think I have a L636 on my Twenty Eight. I have not taken the generator off to see if it is still there. I thought I had one on my Twenty Five but I pulled the hydraulic pump that was mounted where the generator goes and there was no gear. I call pull the generator on the Twenty Eight, but it might be a couple of weeks before I can get to it. The best thing is to keep reminding me about it as otherwise I will forget to do it.

I don’t need to create more work for you. I’m mostly just concerned that A: the generator I have, 953R is correct-ish and B: If I have a 7pitch 21 tooth gear with a 60* angle made will it fit. It’s not cheap!

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
