I am looking for restorable oil and fuel pressure gauges for my D5 restoration , I prefer the sylphon gauge but would consider a set of the Ashcroft gauges as well . The gauges I’m looking for could be found on D2 -D8 tractors . Thanks Alan

How does one determine the maker/age? I'm sitting here with (I think) an old CAT fuel pressure gauge but I really have no clue. I can find no part# but there is a small "SW" under the glass at the bottom. I have two oil pressure gauges on each of two 1930s CAT "POWER UNIT" set-ups out in a field.

Floyd green , the sw on your gauge means that Stewart Warner company built that gauge .
The “sylphon “ gauge has it written on the face as well as the Ashcroft

Wally, do you happen to know the models that the Sylphon were installed on (or at least had the Sylphon name written on the gauge face plate). I have a damaged fuel pressure gauge in my 3J and an aftermarket oil pressure on my 5U that I'd like to return to the more traditional look

I have no literature to back this up but I am pretty sure that the D2s used the sylphon style that showed a range rather than the 0-50 gauge tha came on the earlier gas tractors.

Thanks Wally, did Sylphon also make ammeters? I have an aftermarket ammeter and it just doesn't suit

There is a company that restores gauges and instruments. Mostly for aviation but will restore any type. .

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
