I saw these two listings for D2's on FB:

I was tempted with the winch one, but decided against it as I have enough projects already.  Just wanted to pass these on in case anyone is looking.

Thanks for sharing the links, I know "Neil" has been looking for decent D2 undercarriage for years and these tractors are right in his back yard.

Problem is Mike they're not long track frames. At this stage, that's the only criterion for me, which means the serial # has to be 5U13273 and up. That said, there's a fellow in the JD club here that's looking for a D2. That one in Dolgeville looks right up his alley. If I didn't already have a unit with a blade, I'd get that toolbar tractor because I want to do ag work and that looks like just the ticket : )
Speaking of which, I took my 5U to my buddy's place and starting clearing the overgrowth from his 5 acres. First time I've done any real work with it, and I'm pleased to say the tractor (and the trailer I took it there on) performed flawlessly. I can see that it's due for a cylinder head retorquing, the gas line from the tank to the valve by the pinion control is leaking and needs replaced, and I really need to get the hydraulic control guard refitted. __PRESENT

Never heard of a cut and tuck Neil, smart fella like you with a gas axe would have those old short frames sliced and diced to create a pair of nice new extended track frames in a hour or 2, much easier than making them from scratch! LOL
