The Caterpillar D2 is a crawler tractor manufactured by Caterpillar. It was introduced in 1938 and was the smallest diesel powered track-type tractor manufactured by Caterpillar. This unit was the first year of production SN 3J176. Rubber pads have been added to the tracks to make it more "road friendly".
