Last night we had a frosty 32 degrees F. Just a reminder to winterize your Cat for the cold weather that is coming. Today I started up my D4 7U and added a gallon of antifreeze to the radiator. While I had it running, I drove it out of its shed and adjusted the tracks so it will be ready to use this wnter.

Living in the same climate as you Steamer, one other winterizing job I do is make sure that I park the mag. so that the points are open. Then next year, the pony starts right up without messing with the points. On the 2U, I pull through the first compression and then very slowly through the second until the mag fires and stop or back up just a bit. On the 19A, the points will open on every fire so I pull through the compression until firing and back up just a hair. Someone else will have to fill in on the other cats. firpitch

They threatened us with a light frost, so I checked the Antifreeze in everything except the Ford Model A. Drained it until I get some more A/F. Seems expensive this year?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
