Hi all.
Can anyone tell me what this grouser plate would've belonged to? I've never been able to find one in a Caterpillar parts book. It's the only shoe of this kind on this particular machine, an 8R D8.
Thanks Darren

Hi, D8Dude.
Cat made quite a selection of pads for many of their models. A look at the options in a parts book for 8R might give the answer. I don't know if there is one in the tech. library'

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

No such shoe in the parts book. I believe Westrack may have made that style.

Could be military. Some tracked landing craft had wavy track shoes like that for beach landings.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. It intrigued me a little as I've never seen one in the manuals, it's an odd shoe, the only one like it on the machine, and I've not seen another one.

another bit of farmer engineering. a she'll do cuase it fits job. and the machine went back to work.

"i reject your reality and substitute my own" - adam savage. i suspect my final words maybe "well shit, that didnt work"

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

I've seen pads like that on some old power shovels also.
