I have a 22- 1J and an R2 5E, and am getting to the point of needing to find out what is originally supposed to be on these as far as brass plates, so i can consider finding and buying them, and hopefully installing them!
I have seen numerous photos of differing vintage 22s (5 E close up photos are a bit harder to find )and some have a plate behind the seat, some don't... ( one of mine must have had at least one, cuz there were tiny holes, i think for the patent number plate) Is anyone an authority on what plates should go where on the machines I have???
Out of Three machines i have, all i have is one plate total, ( on the steer clutch adjust cover )with the shift pattern and some text on what you should or should not do with the driveline... and it is kinda worn off and hard to read,,, any advice also on how to make this more legible??? I was thinking of taking it to a place that makes bowling trophies and such to see what they think if they might restore it , or does someone have a better idea of how to DIY??
Should there be any plates on the seat sides ?( perhaps a dealer plate?), again i have evidence of tiny holes...
Also need one S/N plate (made up new by someone out there, ideas?????? ) for the rear trans housing, which also is missing, but the tiny holes are there...
Project machines are R2- 5E 3542SP ,,, and 22- 1J 1098WSP
Thanks for any guidance, gotta start up the construction season next week, so the Cat restorations will have to "simmer" but i can look for parts and advice at nights from the motel.. or Call if you'd rather... Dave Pickhardt 920-210-2875
