Hello I’m looking at a 1960 road grader #12 curious about the weight, it’s had a 24 volt starter added and pony is still present. 318 engine which has decent power thank you for the info.

What is the serial number? They changed engines around 1960 and if it has the 318 engine it is a 1959 or earlier. Engine in 1960 was D333.
#12 with D318 about 22,400 lb and with D333 about 24,400 lb not including scarifier etc.

Hello D4Jim sn: 8T17408 so I believe it’s between 1957-1959?

212 Motor Grader shipping weight just under 14,000 lbs. with scarifiers adding just under 1,000 pounds.

What am I missing on the weight that makes the #12E 9,000 pounds heavier?

The whole frame is larger. Lots of iron there. The 6 cyl engine vs 4 cyl. I believe they share the same cabs but could be wrong.

Seyser is correct in that the 212 is a lot smaller than the #12. The 12 and the 112 are similar except for the engine.
