No resting here! Some find this to be tedious. Me, it gives me a chance to think about what other tasks I might have to do. Mom’s field had some Johnsongrass to be turned over. It rained less than 48 hours earlier. The D4E needed a workout as well as the 7U. Perhaps one more disking before Thanksgiving. JM

Does the rear end on your E get hot?

Saw one up here the other day that had the diverter installed to keep the steering clutches from slipping. Mechanic friend of mine up at Moscow Idaho figured that one out.

Very few things better than working a tractor and some land. Nice to see the working pics. Johnson grass, you have it too, my second least favorite weed after bindweed.

Interesting to see the difference in implements used, west coast vs. midwest. That type of disc never seen around here, maybe I should say rarely as never is a pretty strong word (I've never seen one).

BP: I rarely go faster than 4th gear with this E; No, the backend does not get hot. I remember the tale of your family D4E, I would have been frustrated too.

KB: I don't farm Johnsongrass as well as you do. LOL. I saw that stuff in your D2 thread. I didn't think anyone else had it besides us on the left coast. This field was really bad at one time; I used my CASE 600 disk plow one time and flipped the nasty white roots to the surface so they could dry up and be eliminated. Surprised that my experiment worked. If this field was put into production I likely "nuke" it with some vile herbicides.

The old JD Killefer implements work fantastic. Antiques yes, but very functional. JM

Hold up now, that grass in the vid is native prairie, mostly Indian grass, little and big blue stem with a few others mixed in.. If that were all JG, I'd be beside myself. Hard to tell in the videos though. I thought it was just a problem here never thought you lefties would be fighting it too.

BTW, we "relax" the same way.

If you said that here, the Corp of Engineers would likely declare it off limits to anyone. (seriously). I have seen so much stupidity with environmental groups re-naming critters to put people out of business.

I gotta get my 6U out now, I've been wanting to put the ripper on the tool bar and cut some tree roots around a field.
