Don't forget, the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum is having their fall show October 18, 19, 25, and 26. We'll be celebrating Holt's 150th Anniversary and the Ford model T. The museum will have their 1917 120 horsepower Holt portable engine (The ONLY one in running condition) running our Baker Fan. Anyone got a 45 or 75 power unit they want to show? Perhaps a 5 or 10 ton? A 75 caterpillar even?😉 Or perhaps Bests are your thing. Or Caterpillars. Bring 'em if you got 'em. This show is looking to be one of the biggest in years. We will have the 1911 Best 60/70 Round-Wheel at the show. The Bouris family will be bringing down their Holt 45, 35-70 Minneapolis, Caterpillar 60, and Cat 30. We plan on having several California built engines at the show, courtesy of several collectors around the state. We will be holding steam threshing demonstrations with a 30" Keck-Gonnermann thresher, for the first time in 14 years. In addition to the museum's steam traction engines, we will have a fellow from the North Hollywood area bringing his recently restored Case 50 horsepower steam tractor to the show.

We just loaded the Best Round Wheel tractor in Paso Robles for the trip to Vista tomorrow. It will be there between 11 and 1 depending on traffic. Thanks to Willie for hauling the Best from Imperial to Tulare to Woodland to Paso Robles and now to Vista.

I'm planning on going with my D2 5U and I think D4e is going with his '67 Pete and a few Cats.

If you are planning to come to the So Cal Playday the week after Vista you are welcome to move your tractors in anytime during the week, it is a secure area. Let me know if you need a move as there may be room on trailers coming this way. You can also move them out at your convenience.

Yes clutch is sticky after you push it forward give it a shove with your foot and it will disengage and I got cought in some 50 mph winds and tore one of the curtains hope it all works out also the carb float sticks sometimes but was purrin like a kitten in Paso. Just keep it off those hills because no brakes so be careful, Ill be back to look at all those goodies sometime when not in rush Thanks

Thanks for the tip, we will try to tweek with the carb, I had to cut the fuel shut off valve back to keep her running. I will see if we can get the canopy fixed before it goes home. I hope you can make it back and look around.

Well take good care of that machine. Thanks to Norm from Imperial Museum and David Shank & sister for loaning us the Best Round Wheeler for the past 6 months so we could share it with many thousands of people who would never make it to Imperail to see the oldest C.L.Best traction engine in the world.
With all the fires and fwy closures in the LA area it only took us 17 1/2 hours many of them in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic with ony stopping for an hour to unload and hour to visit Ken a who is restoring a 2Ton the rest was moving but sometimes very very slow. and now after another day of driving we are back home tendin to the ranch, feedin ground squirrels, watering rocks and cultivating the star thistle. As you can see a bit more congested down there then up here

Thanks again for taking the old girl back down south, and for hauling Don's steamer on Sunday as well. It sure was fun to go and get the Best in Imperial in April and I wish (kind of) that I had been able to go with you on Monday to take it back to Vista.

A few more loads and we are finally done tucking all of the great tractors back in the barns following the BSOT. It has been damn near 6 months to the day and I wonder why you and I are tired of hauling neat old iron. Time for a well deserved rest!! Best to Jackie.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
