I recently looked at a late model D2 5U series that is actually only a parts tractor at this point. However, the grousers had 50% life remaining, the rails, pins, and bushings were hardly worn and according to my D2 track gauge, had 100% remaining. Front idler and rollers were 75% remaining and the sprockets were about 50% remaining. What is the current value of that undercarriage if sold separately?

Delta is there actually a market for this. It is in my opinion that this is a hobby. In my area I don’t know of any of these antique machines in production. So I would value that undercarriage at scrape price or a little above if I had a fixer up needing it. At scrape price better figure some mileage money too

The parts are worth thousands to someone who needs them.

Some perspective - I bought new rails about 10 years ago for 2500. I just bought new D3 tracks complete to install on my 5U for twice that delivered. All that says is what I'm prepared to pay for them, but since this is a hobby, others might place a different value on complete tracks but, if I had to guess, 2000-2500 for complete, 50% worn tracks seems like it would get a sale based on what I know others have paid for parts tractors with good tracks. Ultimately, it's what you can get for them. I can't guess at what the other parts would fetch

Delta, where are you located? Reason I ask is that I'm on an eternal search for good track frames and if you have a late model (post-5U13273), then you might have the frames I'm after, although shipping might be a blocker.

I am sure there would be someone willing to pay a price comparable to what Neil is saying his cost. Location could be a problem, as to having time or money get them from current location to where they are needed.

Neil, I'm located in central California in the San Joaquin Delta. It's my recollection that the serial number was in the 15,000s.

I didn't pay much attention to the track frames but if you want to know more then send a private message to me.

Those tracks sound real attractive. I wish I could be in the market for those right now. My bushings/pins are worn and the adjuster is at it’s limit.

Hi, Busso20.

Yeah, kinda funny how growin' up inna SMALL place - or an OVER-CROWDED place - tends to limit yer perceptions of distance. Heck, people here in Downunda travel 400 miles or more EACH WAY just to go to a bush dance - more than that fer a setta tracks that they can use.

Just my 0.02..

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
