Winters Rigging heading home after a job last week....

First we went to Hamilton CA at night to deal with some loaded tank cars, then straight to central PA to handle some coal loads in a bad spot...Four 583's needed for both jobs. Sorry some of the pics were shot from my seat...

very nice pics!! how heavy is a 583 and what is its lifting capacity? It appears they have an 8 part line on the lifting hook?

Working weight of Winters 583H's&K's are about 100,000 lbs. They will lift a maximum of 100 tons set up the way we use them. But its got to be boom straight up and tight to the machine, with an extra "suitcase" weight added to the center of the counterweight frame. The lift blocks are 8 part, and they are load blocks from a 594G or H..the biggest Cat made in a low drive pipelayer.

Did I read this right?
Hamilton CA (California?) to Central PA (Pennsylvania)
Or is CA meaning Canada?

wow great stuff thanks for sharing with us. i love them pic's someday i would love to have a 583 rig for wreck work. only thing is not meany trans go off the track in the prairies. your 583 are rigged for 100 tons or 100,000 lb . if it's 100 tons that's way cool. more bang for your buck than i thought i knew they would lift but that's a lot to pic and walk away with. i don't think side booms get as much love as they deserve.

They will lift 100 ton or 200,000 lbs, only these special setup 583's. Standard 594's are rated at 100 ton or 200,000 lbs.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
