Don't know where all the 12A loader owners have gone!!!!.
Looks like your going to have to drain the hydraulic system and disconnect that supply line to get the starter out. I say disconnect ( and hopefully move it out of the way) as the other end seems to be trapped at the pump mounting as far as removal.
Hi Team,
all the ones I ever worked on had pony motor start--even the last of the new ones The Dealer sold in the early to mid 1960's at about the time I started as an Apprentice Mechanic there.
With the lift frame safely blocked/pinned in the up position I would have thought the starter would come out past the Gov. Hsg. as there would be vacant space if the pony clutch Hsg. etc is not there--unless the pony is still fitted of course.
If I recall there maybe a short section of hose with 2, 2 bolt flanges about under the starter that could be removed from the suction line assembly so only that hose or at least the front pipe part only would need to be removed/disconnected and swivelled about to get the starter out via the underneath.
Only other option is to remove the injection pump or at least maybe only the Governor housing to get the starter out--less messy than draining and removing the section of hydraulic pump suction line.
Seems they are your most likely two options short of dismantling the starter in there and IF the resultant parts will come out thru the available clearance.
Owning a Traxcavator is a life changing experience of how difficult things can be to work on--as you are finding--with all due respect sometimes you just need to "bite the bullet and get 'er done" there may be no real short cut for this job.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
Edit,
Hi Shawn,
you posted while I was researching--good job there getting it done with some ingenuity.
These Traxcavator's require a good deal of thinking outside the box "to get 'er done" Being remote from the iron it is often hard to recall what space is available to offer suitable suggestions--us old mechanics often need to eyeball the iron for the memory to be triggered for what we did back in the day.
