Starter

The starter on the D-8 2U pony gave up the other day . When I opened it up the armature had a winding that shorted.
For me thats the first armature to fail that I have seen .
Interesting.
Hand cranking is tiresome ,I wonder if the pony starter would fit off the D-6 8-U?
The rebuilder is try ing to find one but in the meanwhile mabye new plugs and wires might help.
Does anyone know a good plug number? Thanks Tim

I'd have thought that a new (or second-hand) armature would be pretty easy to find for it Tim - seems like starters of a certain size are much the same. Perhaps a rewind if it's not too prohibitive? I'm sending my D2 pony starter in for a test and rehab soon so I guess I'll find out what it costs : )
