I’m going to be rebuilding a d333 and wanted to find or make a sleeve puller before I start. Do any of you have the specs to build one? I have heard they are a 4.5 inch bore so I should be able to go a little under that but what about the outer diameter of the liner?

Sounds like you are doing this in frame? Surely you have pulled the pan or the engine side covers try and get a measurement from there, rough number would be good enough. I would say go an 1/8th bigger per side minimum, so 4.75 to start with. I'm guessing you will only need the puller for the first inch anyway, not sure how much sleeve hangs down on this engine. Good luck.

A picture of my sleeve puller. The disk is 5/8 inch thick with a lip on the bottom. Smaller diameter to fit in the sleeve bore and the larger diameter 1/8 inch larger. 3/4 inch all thread with a top bracket made to fit over the outer edges of the sleeve. I use the same tool to install the new sleeves, just turned over as a pusher instead of a puller. Just did a D-318 although I had the motor out of the dozer on an engine stand. Made it much eaisier to be able to turn the motor over to get to the bottom side.

So far, I just pulled the pan off. I can’t get in there to get a decent measurement...yet. I had a little more than I bargained for in the pan.

That is ugly. Where to begin. Looks like a major overhaul.

GEE? I hope you tell us those are spares left over from the last rebuild?

I was surprised when I pulled the pan and seen all that. That is one of the worst I’ve opened up. Usually it’s just bearings and call it good. Something tells me I’m not going to be quite that lucky this time😂. I am going to pull the engine, I know I will have to grind the crank. I’m just hoping all those pieces came out of the same cylinder🤞
