Hello, never posted before but have been reading the board for some time now. I was hoping someone could tell me what the side 22 was designed for, saw it in 3J1 BILL Tulare pictures and cannot figure out a use for it, farming must be different over there, also can anyone post pics of a Cat 22 with original engine covers as none here seem to have them, mine does not.

Thank you Oz22 😊 😊

The side seat was designed to pull a grader. It was probably originally equiped with a power control unit that controlled a pull grader so grading became a one man operation.

I bought the Side seat 22 at the Plote auction (thanks to Greg Andrade for bidding for me) and it did not and still does not have the power control unit. It currently has a belt pulley mounted where the power control would be.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of a power control unit for the 22 I would love to find one. I will pay or trade Cat, Best or Holt parts for a good unit.

Hey Tom, what does the power control unit look like? I will keep my eye out for you but I am not sure what it looks like.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
