Hello,
I am interested in buying a Best 60 that is missing the serial number plate back by the seat.

Is there any other location that the serial number might be stamped like on the bevel gear case or elsewhere?

Is there any other reliable means such as casting codes or numbers to determine the year of manufacture.

The tractor has had, we believe a CAT 60 replacement engine. The engine s/n or "motor no." as stamped on the block is 7009.

Any help appreciated,
R4Dan

Dan that is certainly a much later Cat engine. Look on the frame rail next to the radiator on the left side if you are sitting in the seat. Some but not all are stamped there. Typically on the leading edge of the inside steel.

Thanks a lot Tom, ... I appreciate the info about where the serial #may be stamped. We will check that out soon, ... great info!

We agree, ... the engine serial number reflects a later engine. Do you have reference info as to the date of that engine manufacture?

Thanks much,
Dan
