It is with profound sorrow that I inform the club of the passing of Dr. James C. "Jim" Sheppard, a skilled physician, good neighbor, great friend, and renowned Cat collector. He departed this life either late last night, April 22nd, or early this morning, April 23rd. It was just a few months that I attended his 90th birthday party, at which he was still in good shape, both mentally and physically. For those not familiar with him, he had one of the finest collections of antique Caterpillar and John Deere tractors in the country. He had over 100 meticulously restored John Deeres, plus Caterpillars of every size, from the mighty Seventy down to numerous examples of Tens and everything in between. He was an encyclopedia of information about old tractors and was always willing to share that knowledge with everyone. He was simply a joy to know and it was my privilege to have him as a friend and neighbor. For those interested in honoring him, funeral arrangements and obituary information can be found (or will be soon available) on the website of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. Please be in prayer for his family he left behind., the only thing he loved more than his tractors.
Rest in eternal peace Doc ! You love for Cats and Deeres was shared with many people, and we are grateful .
