I just got my dozer two weeks ago. I have my "Engine" manual it does not tell me what size the engine is or what model it is. I know it is a four cyclinder diesel, but what model or size is it called? It is a 1937 RD4 s/n 4g4344. Can anyone help me with this simple information that I know I should know but can not find in my engine manual? Thank You very much. (New to caterpillar world and trying to learn as much as I can as fast as I can).

Rabbit 2,
Don't feel bad, Cat hardly mentions the engine model in any of their literature, they just expect you to know......somehow😕 😕

CCjersey and Old Magnet, thank you both for the info. I've only owned this cat for about three weeks and you'll have already taught me a lot about it. You'll are "Top Drawer" in my book. Thanks again

Rabbit2,
The above book covers all Cat diesels upto the time of publication, it is Cat Form No 5060, mine is 5060B printed 12-47, the B is just to identify the edition.
I do not know if these are available as a reprint.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
