Old magnet-CC-SJ can any one of you tell me if the fuel pumb on a R2 can put fuel in the engine oil. The pump works good at supplying fuel for the tractor. I just got my R2 back togather and running [i know i am old and slow]๐Ÿ˜Š only took few months. When i filled the oil i put in 14 quarts [has oil filter] was a little over full. now after sitting over nite it appears to have 3 or more extra quarts. I have worked it some may be half hour. Oil is not milky and won't burn if i hold a cigaret lighter to dip stick. Just about to send it to china๐Ÿ˜ž Thanks

What about the carburetor float? Any chance of the tank draining into the intake enough to do it?

Have you turned it over to see what's in the intake manifold and to make sure there's not water under the oil, just not mixed in yet?

If not the float and it's not running severely rich/missing, it just about has to be the pump.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time๐Ÿ˜„

Catrat, You r fuel pump diapham is leaking gas into the crankcase. If you turn off the fuel you will see the crankcase level rises only a bit. I had to replace the rubber membrane twice before it sealed correctly.

Thanks Guys. I allways turn of the gas when it is shut down. I smeled the stick and can't smell any gas.I ran it some this morning pushed a little dirt. ๐Ÿ˜Š When i was backing up saw an oil spot so i parked it and done some checking the valve cover gasket was not good and is leaking bad at the back. It sat for about 1/2 hour i checked the oil and it was back to where i had filled it to.๐Ÿ˜ฎ I don't know what is going on. Where can i get materal to make new diaframe. Is that the only think that will make it leak. will check it tommoro morning after church and see if it is back up. I have run this engine without a fuel pump from time i restored it. But have had that nagging spiting problem now and then. Thought i would try a pump this time i reinstaled it[ had it out for clutch] This is trying to drive me crazy.

Hi all. The problem appears that it was operator errer. It sat 24 hours and i checked it oil appears ok now just a little over full. Called Olsens this morning and have a new valve pan gasket on its way. Will try and get some seat time on it after get gasket on to stop my leak. May even get enough to seat the new oil rings. [[Thanks again for all the replys]]

OK folks back to the Cat. Have got some seat time on it๐Ÿ˜Š Now for the question would running this motor on blend and gas [equal] cause the fuel to get in the oil.I have removed to fuel pump and would think that the push arm and all would be real clean if it was leaking fuel into oil. It is oil dirty not shiney like it was getting fuel washed๐Ÿ˜• I drained down the oil to full mark before running it run about 1 hour working on a dirt pile checked oil next morning and was about 1 quart above full. The reason i am running this fuel mixture is last year when i pulled the engine it had 20 gallon of gas and kerosene mixed in it that i saved. I can't get any sign of a leak working it buy hand๐Ÿ˜ž

I would think that there's no way to find a small leak working a pump by hand unless you have it build up pressure against something. How does the engine run? If running OK, I would doubt the fuel got in past the rings, but if a missing cylinder, I could see raw fuel making it into the crankcase.

Simple way to tell is take the pump back off and run it!

I do have a cyl. that miss fires some and haft to hold the plug wire away to clear it.๐Ÿ˜Š I have tryed running it without the pump and it seem like it don't get enough fuel. stits and sputers back fires. but runs good with pump on. I think we will get this problem figured out in time. i am going to reroute the fuel line and hook to carb. and work it to see if i can detect a leak๐Ÿ˜•
Thanks CC

Does an R2 have an oil cooler like a D2 that could be draining back to the sump?

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
