Can I assume that since the links in the track chains of the 22, R2 6J, and the D2 5J are that same part numbers that the height of the link—3.00 inches new and 2.75 inches worn out, I believe—and the measured distance across several links—I forget the number—would be the same in determining the condition of the chains?I have a 22 that I might part out and would like to use the tracks for one of my running 22s. The links measure 2.85 inches high but I haven’t been able to measure the distance across the several links yet. What are the correct heights and distances across the links?ThanksPete

Thanks, Neil.
I want to use the the tracks on another Cat but don’t want to go through the effort of changing them if they are worn out. I read somewhere that you stretch the chain by backing uphill and then take a measurement across a certain number of links. Do you have those numbers?

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
