Can't make much out of those fuzzy pictures but the 8U/9U uses the same seals.

It scuffed up the dead axle pretty good to.

The 8U is narrow gauge, the 9U wide gauge, so the main hub, (the broken bit) and sprocket shaft are different, plus the 9U has an extension bolted to the final drive cover. Only the gears bearings, seals, outer hub and sprocket are interchangeable.

scuffed up dead axle is not an issue, you will need to find a hub from a 8u.

Might be possible to cut one from a 9u down to fit.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

My bull gears were only damaged on the forward face so I just swapped sides

Glum, what do you think might have been the root cause of that damage? Loose bearings or shock loading, flawed part, something else?

What machine is this from? It looks like a very long sprocket shaft.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
