Horizontal and vertical magnetos do no interchange. The impulse couplings depend on gravity orientation for the latches to work.
Dang. Ok. Thanks. Looked in my manual and did not see anything about orientation of the gear inside the mag. No timing marks I could see. Anyone done this?
Also different is the crankcase vent and oil fill. This pony was also a d7 17a so thought all would be identical.
Thanks. Jason
Here is how you time the two 17A magnetos.
Where yours uses the gear drive rotor you set it up the same way to fire in #1 position.
I am 't sure but the magneto verticalement is counterclock wise and horisontalement is clockwise
Looking at the magneto drive trunnion and gear for the vertical mag and the camshaft direct drive horizontal magneto they both appear to be counter clockwise rotation.
