Images above show the BEST shaker mounted on a Ford 861. Rear wheels reversed, hood and cowling removed to allow clearances for the boom, hydrualic pump mounted to front of the crankshaft. This particular machine was left outside after last use, the owner's nephew had no concern, was finally sold. Just another example that many of us see, these were taken in 2015.
I can find no reference to the Best Welding Works - Modesto, Ca to the Best family that we all know as one of the inventors of so many machines that endure today. I would not be surprised it it was indeed part of the C.L.Best legacy. cts
I neglected to note - there is a lever that is in the rear portion of the boom that allowed the operator to rotate the "hook" to fit the limb of the tree. This machine like so many of the era - hooked the limb, not the trunk of the tree. A slow methodical process necessitating moving the machine for each limb. cts
