Several years ago I purchased an Atlas rollover plow. It never really worked well, since me not knowing enough that it needs new plowshares.
I want to guess it’s considered a 3-16 rollover? Has anyone ever managed to source parts for one? When did Atlas quit making equipment? Was the end of the rollover plow line due to the patent/infringement situation they had years ago? Does Atlas exist or is there a knock off?
Overall, it is a nice plow, but I wish it to be fully functional. It has shares with the “gunnel”. I wonder if any modern brands say Deere or IH could be retrofitted? Lots of questions and unknowns here. I am not a plow person!
Ideas are appreciated. TIA, JM
The last photo was Mike B., from Brooks Oregon operating my D5 SA at the Santa Margarita Ranch.
Until recently, it has been stored at SM thanks to the ranch owners and the Paso Robles gang. Much appreciated by me. JM
I believe the problem you may have is that they were designed to plow deeper than what the big manufacturers were producing in the eastern 1/2 of the country. I ran in to that problem with a Stockton IH plow that we had as well, it looked the same in the picture but everything was made almost 2x bigger and thicker.
since Tiera isn’t making these or anything else anymore maybe convert to Wilcox $$$$
I will figure something out. I was hoping someone out here in the west has rebuilt one. I am not wanting to sink a fortune into it, as I have already spent money on the new tires and a few hoses. The nice thing about leaving it at SM, a couple of good guys that wanted to use it (Robert Shaver, if you are out there) put additional new hoses on it for me. How cool is that?
The previous owner appears to have done a subpar job of extending the shares and the landsides. I suppose I could cheat some and try the same, but that isn't my style either. Do it right once and walk away. A good winter project for me.
If I was made of $ like NickyWalnuts, I would go to Wilcox! All the old school blacksmith shops around this area are long gone. Tiura, Yolo Blacksmith, Wagner Welding Works, Dixon Y Machine. A long list long gone.
Correct on the DEEEEEP plowing with these. My friends close to Walnut Grove, CA own several of these plows and testify that theirs will make a D7 or their D8 whimper. Member Danny Garmon from Santa Paula needs to reset the depth on his, as it will make his 17A spin out.
I have an Atlas brand rear style hydraulic pump from an HD9 I believe it was, saved from the scrapper. Never knew they made hydraulics for their implements.
Hi, juiceman.
If the people who ran the blacksmith display at SM are still coming there, maybe you could have a chat with them about getting your problems fixed. They might LOVE the challenge. Tom or some of the other organizers would likely have contact details for them.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Anthony: They did, but sometimes I wonder if one manufacterer let everyone slap their own decal on the tank and sell them. Seems many looked so similar to one another. I had a light duty Atlas Vee ditcher here at one time. Curious as to what else they may have sold. Reminds me of Be-Ge, which carried an array of implements. CR? Are you out there? You have a deep knowledge, any thoughts?
Thanks Deas, but I will handle it closer to home. I might remove one of the shares and innocently walk into a Deere or IH dealership and ask for help. As mentioned, plowing is not a common tillage function in this area. BIG stubble disks can do faster and better work. JM
I have always cut 4" pieces from springtooth tínes and welded them on to re point plows. I know, not esthetically acceptable to some but worked well for me .

I have seen one example of hydraulics pump/control with a large ATLAS sticker on it. That I believe had also been on an AC HD9. The HD 9 had a new Garwood hardnose and angle blade on it. There was also BeGe 1000 series pump/control on Cat 4r D6 on the ranch. At this point no clue what was different, but sitting side by side it was not a BeGe that just had a ATLAS sticker slapped on it. But very much the same basic design.
Hope you find the talented blacksmith your looking for JM.
