I have to say..... Hats off to the entire ACMOC staff for all there efforts and to every one else involved in making this event happen. This was my first experience to peoria and it was increadable. To everyone I had great conversation with thank you so much for coming and I must say the Caterpillar staff were all incredible across the board from the tour guides to the people at the visitor center. I was going back over the events with my wife today and I can't even decide what my favorite thing was because it was all so great! To all that have never been I strongly recommend going if the opportunity comes again. Thanks to all involved and a special thanks to the Veerkamp family for all the equipment and resources they devote to the club and to Caterpillar...

Seconded. It was a great experience and we saw "the other side of Caterpillar", the process that led to the machines we all enjoy being made. Easy to to tell that the Cat folks take a great deal of pride in what they produce.
One thing our foundry guide John explained was that his friend Mike provides 400t of scrap a day to make the engine castings and he, John, cast it into engine blocks. These are engines that cost hundreds of thousands each - no small thing. It was good to be reminded that there are real people behind these processes that take the production personally - John told us he'd been in the foundry something like 46 years and had done virtually every job that was in there - so I knew he was telling us like it is and that we weren't just getting the "packaged" tourist script. Quite possibly my favorite part of the whole tour although it was all excellent (including catching up with old and new friends and of course the food : )

Thank you to all those involved in making this possible for another year, it surely is a very time consuming process behind the scenes for all the staff. It was a wonderful three days and there is always something new every time! After all the hours planning the event, long hours making it all flow from sun up to well beyond sundown, and the heat I am wishing our office staff a speedy recovery!

Totally agree with all comments made. I was awed about the whole Caterpillar entity, it's history, the technology, and the patriotism of past and present employees.
Thank you all for a great time and I will be back to the next one with some more Ozzies to have another wonderful experience.

It was great to meet and talk to many of you at the event, and at the tractor show on Saturday. A big thanks to the folks that braved the heat and humidity on Saturday to attend and display tractors at the show, and of course Mary, Tricia and the volunteers for manning the ACMOC tent.

Also, I think I found the answer to the question that stumped us all Friday night about the valves on the Diesel Sixty exhaust manifold. The only reference I could find to these in the Diesel Sixty-Five Operators Manual is under the troubleshooting section. If the engine “fires irregularly”, the first step it suggests is “determine cylinders that miss by opening exhaust cocks”. I assume with those open you can tell which cylinders are firing and which are not.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
