I am trying something to see if it will clean my valves up if it is a carbon deposit problem on my exhaust valve. I removed the injector on #2 and poured marvel mystery oil in full with the exhaust valve open to see if it would clean it up some. I plan to leave it for several days but rotate the engine every day or 2 by hand. As long as I can get the majority of this sucked out before cranking it up to see if it made a difference, does anybody know of any problems with my idea?

Never mind that question. I think it was dumb because the fluid only filled in the precombustion chamber and probably didnt actually make it to the valves at all. Lol

Actually I believe it did go through the exhaust valve because I see it now in the exhaust of #2 just like I wanted it to because I left that valve open to allow it to soak in mmo. Maybe just maybe not such a bad idea after all especially if it removes the junk on the valve there!

I would simply spin the engine over WITH THE INJECTOR OUT to blow out any remaining MM oil. It’s not a bad idea, just that it has a low probability of fixing lots of things that could be wrong in there.

Water is the best carbon remover ever. Evidence is the combustion chamber and valves of a cylinder with a leaky precombustion chamber will be clean down to steel and iron surfaces. I’ve never done it with a diesel but have dribbled water into several old gasoline engines with occasional good results.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Second that cc, I've misted a couple of gas engines with water and cleans them up nicely. Matter of fact, if you're cooking your bacon and eggs and like me, you cook the eggs in with the bacon, to finish it off pour in a half cup of water with the pan sizzling then immediately cover, and it will finish those eggs off perfectly and cleans the flying pan at the same time!
