Hi, jbernd56.

Yer hafta log in every time yer come here 'coz somebody - or maybe several somebodies - who think they know about setting up web sites DON'T know as much as they think they do. Wunna the PRIME requirements when ANYTHING new is built is to check it 'ackshully' working to see if it does what it is supposed to do.

I may have been spoiled a tad but the computer tech that I useta use when I was living around Brisbane and the Gold Coast in Queensland, Downunda, could write a 1,000 character string of code and have it work. But he also had a IQ of 160 - thatza a little above most folks, me included.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Hey John, I was going to wax eloquently as how I never had to log in again but lo and behold I had to log in again to post.

I wish the super moderator would begin a list of questions and answers or fixes that would make the forum more user friendly.

Deas, no sense in you nokin yourself down to some of the rest of our IQ levels. :) :) We gotta have sombuddy to keep the average
IQ respectable. Using this new board is a humbling experience and low IQers like me are having problems!!

Now what the heck??? My post is flagged for review and I am not shown as a member!! WOW!!

Hi guys,

The only reason at the moment for the site not remembering you and requiring a login each time is because there are so many updates going on behind the scenes. So it will settle and be back to the old way in time. Unfortunately we cannot have continuous improvement and bug resolutions without this inconvenience.

Regards,

Tony

Hi, Deebo.

I'm NOT a computer programmer BUTTTTT, I have spoken at some length over several years with a couple of REALLY good ones and they have both said that there is NO VALID REASON why a new or updated site can not be word perfect from its launch. If you remember from my earlier post, my past computer tech could compose a 1,000 character command string AND have it work from the get-go. He was also a part of the team that programmed the computers for England's first computer-counted election.

Now I grant that both circumstances and the supply of 'shekels' here are somewhat different from writing program for a government body but let'z NOT have any more of the "it can't be done" stuff. This site is all about Caterpillar machinery and they became what they are today in large due to a STRONG policy of TESTING before releasing a new product or model to the market.

Just my 0.02.

Hi Desa,

I worked for a very large Telephone company here in Aus and they put out a Beta version of the software to a certain few to test it out and fix the bugs before releasing it through out the company. But alas this did not happen here to everyone's frustration, maybe in the future it may happen.

Regards

Hi, Raxx200.

Yes, that is one of the ways that are used to test new or upgraded programs. Another way is in-house testing - one way of doing this is to give it to the dumbest person in the organisation and see if they can break it.

Hi Jim,

One of the advantages of this site is that it will have an AI moderator to reduce pressure on the volunteers that work in the background. This is being tested at the moment so it might be that your post was flagged mistakenly by this software. I assure you all the bugs will be resolved over time. As far as beta testing that was all me (no other idiot volunteered.. ) you can blame my lack of brain power and foresight for any issues arising!

Regards,

Tony
