We had a leak in carb on 1931 Cat 10 installed rebuild kit.in carb tractor starts and runs perfect idles down. Then after congratulating each other on the job we shut down engine and noticed a leak. After removing and checking carb we are at a loss. engine does not appear to drip while running. The mechanic thinks the throttle shaft has worn bushing and is leaking around. Is there any carb shop anywhere who will work on old carbs? Help needed.

I would expect the gaskets at the bottom of the metering assembly, the round cylinder that is sandwiched in between the top and bottom of carb body. You have to experiment with different thicknesses of gasket material to get a good fit. I have also faced the ends of cylinder in the lathe to true up and clean up the gasket surface, take off minimal material.

Some of these rubber tipped float needles are not worth a $%# and flood the carb.

I just discovered the Carbdoc. Try . They seem to rebuild any type of carb. I have only looked at their web site so no personal knowledge. Grant.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
