Meant to be OT not IT: but edit won’t let me fix the title.

I’m looking at a Warner Swasey hopto excavator that I’m consider buying. I think it’s from the mid 60s and I was wondering if anybody had any opinions or pointers to part sources in particular for parts that would be unique to this excavator. hydraulic controls motors and such. the machine I’m looking at is functional but I suspect maintenance will be required. the engine is a Detroit diesel so I’m not so worried about parts for that.
Thanks
Dave

Hi, Djmayer.
Back in their day, they were pretty popular amongst pipeliners for excavating trench for pipe. All the reports I have heard seemed to indicate that they were a powerful and robust brand of machines. They also made wheeled excavators and truck mounted Gradall-style units.

Here izza link to an e-bay search page that may have some useful information, parts books, etc..

Lol, the ole "hop to it!" Good machines, if you can, over the Detroit music, listen to the pumps for howling, growling or whining. Check for cracks, etc.

Hi, Djmayer.
ROME K/G has given a good suggestion in his post. The only thing I would add to it is to be sure that the hydraulic fluid level is high enough that the pumps are not starving for something to pump 'cos that will make them whine and howl too.
