I have been going through the lubrication chart for my D2. I tried to unscrew the filler cap on the fuel injection pump housing. after about 1/4 turn it meets with some springy resistance.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I don't want to snap something.
Thanks,
Art

Hi Art,
could be the copper gasket under the cap is squashed out into the plug thread relief area and the asbestos insert in the copper ring has adhered to the top face of the filler neck.
Check and see if there is a gap between the cap under-face and the gasket. Springiness will be the cap threads trying to cut a thread thru the distorted gasket and/or lifting/jacking the gasket from the neck face.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
