I am looking for a price listing for the Hyster brand winches (D4, D4D, D4N) supplied to Caterpillar for the 7U series of the D4 tractors - in the late 1940's through the end in 1958.

Any help out there?

Surprising to see how expensive the #44 unit was in relation to everything else. I assume the cost of the cylinders and blade frame are part of the blade cost and not the #44 cost.

Here is a Hyster price list for the D4 in 1942, the only other price lists I have for Hyster products are in a 1990 Hyster publication and in Caterpillar price lists, might not be a common item, as they probably sold most of their winches through equipment companies.

willwingo, thanks for posting that invoice. That was one sweet setup with blade, 5 roller, etc.... Looks like you had a trade in; was it a cat also?

The tractor was bought new by our neighbor - Bob Gibson. He traded a D2, 4U496 with a 2A blade and 44 hydraulic unit. The allowance was $2,946.00. The 4U had been rolled over by one of his hired men and was hurt bad.
He also purchased a #4 toolbar and subsoiler at the same time.

I bought the 7U in 2004 from Bob - the service meter showed 2,987 hours.

Josh - thanks for those Hyster sheets. They are the only ones I have ever seen. I think the Cat dealers probably kept the information from Hyster for their own use.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
