Long time reader first post as a member.
Thankfully this happened on a fire break, not on the main community road (ROAD CLOSED LOL)
As title says, damaged the spindle on way off. Came off like a gunshot BAM and I dropped 20".
According to the grader owner (my 100 yr old Grandfather, who ran it until age of 90+) our grader is a 1954 cat no 12 road grader. Serial number 8T11692
Also somehow popped a tube on opposite side of grader rear left at same time.
Sorry for individual pictures, only way I don't get the broken link image or whatever it's called.
Anyways, bought a set of 4 books to help out with this and it simply summarizes the job as "replace wheel and drum on spindle, tighten securely."
I've read here wheel should be pressed on at 40 TONS...
Also, opinions on spindle keyway, opinion on threads, any help and time appreciated.
That quote is from my servicemans reference book. Not finding much else in other books...
THANK YOU AGAIN EVERYONE FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP
That spindle, 4F3942 is junk, you need to find a new or good used one, the wheel assembly 4B2737 may also need to be replaced.
Hi, CalienteJohn.
I think Josh is right, you need a new GOOD used axle and hub to fix that. You will also need the hydraulic press and fitting to press then together. While you're at it, it'z probably worth checking the press fit pressure on the other 3 drive wheels while you have the gear to do it.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Thats what I thought but didn't want to hear on the spindle condition and the hydraulic press..
I've been able to source a new spindle, spindle nut and key that drives the wheel.
How hard of a job is spindle replacement and can I get details on this 40 ton press PLEASE. Does harbor freight carry that? Haha
Also I've looked for a wheel (part #4B2737) online with no luck. Where are you guys sourcing parts from??
Need the cat for fire breaks so must fix for the neighbors and my sake.
That wheel was used on thousands of machines, here is one possible source and it shows several other part numbers that cross and are searchable.

Post your location, someone might know of a press service in your area or someone who has one.
Hi, CalienteJohn.
I am not sure but I think that those wheels were used on many series of Cat 12 graders from quite early on to very late in the run. Some of the later ones ahd etra weights cast into the wheel and so may look out of place but may well be the same center hole as your 8T series machine. it just needs to have a good center.
No doubt somebody will correct me if I am wrong as I don't have any parts books library on any of them.
