Is anyone out there planning on taking any Vintage Caterpillar equipment to the Half Century of Progress show in Rantoul, Ill in August. http://www.halfcenturyofprogress.com/history.html I am thinking about taking my 1946 No. 12 Motor Grader Down there. I have never been to this show before. Thanks, Zach
I'm not taking any Cat equipment but Rantoul is a very nice show, lots of harvesting, discing, plowing, etc. They also have had some dozers, draglines, and graders in the past. If you can take a few days maybe hit the Portland, IN show which is the same weekend but opens on Wednesday. Usually a good amount of Cat stuff there, a few years back they were the feature brand. In Rantoul years we hit Portland on Wednesday-Thursday and Rantoul Friday-Saturday. I think the drive is around 200 miles. Both are large shows, in my estimation Rantoul tends to have more of the nicely restored pieces but Portland has a bunch as well, with a huge parts area. I think Portland is claimed to be the biggest show in the country. I often run into ACMOC members in Portland, haven't yet at Rantoul but I'm sure some are there.
As a side note we just got home from the Penfield, IL show after attending for two days. Plenty there to see and observe but only a few Cat pieces, maybe a few more will roll in tonight. I would guess there will be a post a week or two before Rantoul-Portland to have everyone who is attending chime in, maybe a few of us can have an informal meet up. Thanks.
