Grousers

Does any one on here know of a source of steel to build up grousers? Or what grade fo steel to use, I expect common cold roll would be to soft.
Since I am in sask. a canadian source would suit me best.

A lot of folks also just use AR Plate (abrasion resistant) or plow steel, including me. One of my D4's came with ar grousers and they have held up well.

Any undercarriage shop ought to have access to the special formed bars.

If you decide to use AR strips or anything like it to rebuild the grousers, a low hydrogen welding rod like E-7018 is just about a "must". .if you don't have access to a wire machine. If E-6010, 6011 or any of the mild steel rods are used, it'll probably break right next to the welds in a very short time. If you just want to run passes to build 'em up, I'd pick E-11018 or 12018.
