Hi all,

Putting this post on for a mate to see if anyone can help.

He has a 2U D8 in NZ and are going to hang a logging winch on it.
The winch is a Hyster D8N model circa 1950s. It is a direct drive winch. They have no control linkages from the top of the winch back to the operators seat. They are a two speed winch so have a control for high/low range, forward/freespool/reverse and brake. The pivot point for these was mounted out on the fender alongside the operator.
Mate this is about all I can give you as far as details go but we are on the hunt for levers, control linkages etc.

If anyone has ideas where we could find controls, or retrofit it would be appreciated.

Cheers Ben

Here are the parts you are looking for.....
Our Pacific Northwest would probably be the area to search but I don't have a specific source.

Hi, Murraycat.
I know they are half a world away but, IF all else fails, give these blokes a try.

They are in or near some of the logging country.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Used to be a lot of 2Us around in NZ with that model of winch. Have got some balls for sure, watched one pull a boat on a slipway in whangarei once, was quite amazing. Have no doubt it would snap 1 1/8 rope if dug in enough.
If all else failed you could use any normal 2 lever manuel winch control for the brake, and fwd rev controls, and make up a extra lever for the hi low lever.
Hamilton tractor parts over here could be worth a ph call .

Hi Andy,

I am in Australia but one of my work colleagues asked me to post for him. His family has a good collection of tractors in NZ I think South Island but will have to check.

Cheers
