I recently purchased off a rock pile what appears to be what is called I think an orchard 10 caterpillar. The reason I think it's an orchard is the seat kinda hangs off the back of the tractor. With a pto shaft sticking the center of what appears to be the seat baracket will try to figure out how to post pictures over the weekend it's kinda complicated for a guy my age. Very happy to have found this site hope there are some fellas here that can help me with my first restoration. Thanks rusty rails

G'Day Rusty,

Welcome to the newbie club. 😄
I am also a newbie to cat restoration.

If I can work out how to attach photo's, then you will soon be a master of it. 😊
I look forward to seeing your pic's.

Cheers,

Phill.

Welcome Rusty rails you will soon find out that this is a great club to be apart of and there are so many helpful people around the world that are very good at this old cat restoration business/hobby. I joined almost a year ago and have really enjoyed being apart of ACMOC. It took me a wile to figure out the photo uploading and had a few of the guys walk me through it. If you need some help don't hesitate to ask how good luck on the 10 I am looking forward to seeing it:welcome:
Thanks God Bless

I feel sorry for the significant other!
Having to endure for the years to come your affliction of the "YELLOW FEVER"!
Your constant swiveling neck while driving looking to ID that yellow tinted piece in the hedgerow of some field to the constant dribble of Part numbers verse Dates to determine if it is indeed a correct part for that Serial number! She'll never look pretty any more as she trudges through the dust/mud of some boring to her Tractor Show while silently angry at you for not explaining to her that greasy part she sat on will not wash out of her Skirt!
Actually its all in Jest! (it is Funny, when you think about it!)

Welcome to You with your FIRST acquisition!
You need to update your location so that people nearby can give you a hand when needed! Unless of course you have a nice lifting machine to move heavy parts and Yes you will find all of them seem heavy! There are a couple of guys across the US on here that have TEN parts as I am sure you will need some! Also as you need to learn to use the SEARCH function to search for previous TEN/FIFTEEN projects where you will find that a lot of the TEN restoration projects entail a "donor machine". (hence the comments above about constantly searching fields/networking at Shows)
Its only fair to Warn you that some VINTAGE items will cost you dearly for these early Tractors but are obtainable!

There are lots of reasons to buy a TEN as your first Project!
The TEN is a nice machine for a first one as it is small enough to fit in the garage in the space where you parked, wifey will lose her space soon after disassembly as you explain its only temporary! HA!HA!
The next plus is that it is a Gasoline engine which means most people can learn it easily to be able to work on it.
Lastly is that you will be able to tow it to Shows with your average Camper tow rated vehicle, you will not need a big pickup Truck till the next acquisition! (remember its an affliction "YELLOW FEVER")

Plus side to stealing the wife's parking space is it will be easier to convince her to let you build a dedicated shop where you can wile away the hours working on your Toys!
(OOPS! Did I insinuate more than 1 by saying Toys not Toy?)
I should also mention that the second acquisition will cost you dearly as it will be bigger meaning you need a BIGGER Truck and Trailer as now your Camper rated vehicle is too small!
KEYWORDS: "FEVER"

Either way, I hope this all comes out as early morning Holiday humor!
Looking forward to pictures of your first TRACTOR!
When you start the Project BLOG post it like the fellow with the FIFTEEN from England did to keep us updated!
