My Son and I went to a funeral for a close friend yesterday. We're both Operating Engineers. Me retired and he's working steady on heavy/highway.
On the way to the funeral on an absolutely beautiful day here in southeast Wisconsin, I remembered how great it was to move dirt when the temp was around 45 degrees and dry. There's somthing about how everything works so well. The machine doesn't get real hot and the dirt loads, spreads and compacts so well. I especially enjoyed running a tractor/pan this time of year. If work was better and there weren't so many guys needing to get hours in, I think I'd hit the BA up for just one week on the job somewhere.
I just spent the day running a D7 17a & 70 tow scraper. The fall is a great time to move dirt. I enjoyed running Cats all day. I really enjoy it when you are 90% loaded and working her good and she barks at ya'. The grow-ell from the torque energizes me.👍-glen
