Mine came a few days ago, another very nice, well detailed model. I am looking forward to the scraper.
I got mine yesterday. It looks like a very nice model for the money👍 I finally took my 491 scraper out of the box after 2yrs and took a picture😛hoto: I guess this is wishful thinking of the tractor and scraper😖mokin:. Sorry for the blurry pics.

Thanks for the pics, looks like another winner, thanks must go to First Gear, ACMOC and Dave Tallon also.
If the D9G does eventually come to fruition with block "C" decals SS ripper and S blade man that will sell like nuthin else has with the quality FG put out.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Gavin84W and all.
I agree that that model looks pretty good and that First gear does indeed do a good job. I guess mine will be in the mail somewhere by now and that I'll get my grubby lunch-hooks on it soon enough.

Gavin, there is one comment about First Gear models that I have made several times elsewhere and have not gotten much response about. ALL the First Gear low sprocket dozer models that I have, and I have several, have the front idler in the high position instead of in the low position.
I have e-mailed First Gear about it received a HUGE silence in reply - like maybe we're not supposed to find issues with them but simply accept them as they are. My guess is that they have simply taken the basic tractor and hung a blade on it without going into the finer detail of lowering the idlers, maybe not even knowing about that tiny minor detail. That does not excuse the lack of courtesy in not replying.
I also mentioned the issue here on this forum in an earlier thread and Catalac said that he had passed it on to Dave Tallon. I have not heard any more about it. Lee, if you are reading this, would you please tell us what the latest is on this issue? If they are going to go to all the trouble and expense of the level of detail that they do, then maybe one final touch would be the icing on the cake.
Thanks for the photos, Fellas. Something to look forward to.
I will have several pieces of DW 20 sales Lit available at the CAT tent at Portland. Come see me and the rest of the original servive manuals I have for sale.

Deas -
I appologize for not getting you a response they last time you brought up the idler issue. I did look into it, but apparently getting back to you got sidetracked somewhere along the way.
You are absolutely correct that the idler is in the high position on the model. I reviewed the dimensions and although the difference between hi and low is only a millimeter or so at 1/25 scale, it is in the high position. I did not dig into the "why" too much, since there was not much we could do by that point other than make a note to watch it for future models. I know that the dimension drawings I sent showed it in the low position. It is possible one of the real tractors they measured and photographed had it in the high position, or it might have something to do with their track tensioning mechanism on the model. Regardless, it was like that through the prototype phase, and I didn't catch it. If/when we get the D9G going, or for other dozer models, I will be sure to keep a closer eye on that detail.
Thanks,
Dave
I need some help with memory here. It's been almost 40 years. But, I seem to remember that the front idler was high for dozer/grading work so the track wouldn't cause blade control caos. And the track was down on the ground on the idler for pulling a ripper or a load, or pushing scrapers so you had more track on the ground.
I remember running 66A's with rippers and low front idlers and smooth dozer work was almost impossible at least for me and the Guys I worked with. We were tasked with ripping and push cat work.
And the machines with the high front idler were good for ripping and dozing.
Am I "on track" here???
Thanks
Rch101, Other way round mate, Idler set high for pulling, set low for pushing.. Cheers 4D...
