Does anyone know what the exact differences are between a D333C and 3306 cyl block? The D333C block is a 5S6777. The 3306 block is a 2P0960.

Basically I have a D333C (5S6777) block that is bad and I have a 2P0960 block in my inventory that I would like to use to replace it if it will work.

Does anyone know for sure If I can use this 2P0960 in place of the 5S6777 block?

The head gasket between to two engines is the same and I belive the flywheel housing and front covers will bolt up as well. The mounting holes and locations for the oil coolers/filters/etc are the same as well.

Just wondering If anyone else has made this swap.

Any info is appreciated.

thanks D4Dan

They can be interchanged Dan. Just make sure the new one has piston cooling jets if old one has. And when you get it together pressure lube it and make sure oil is getting to the rocker shaft. That problem was mainly when an old D333C head was used on a newer D333C block I think. And make sure the end of the oil gallery has the right plug or button in it. This applies if there is an engine oil lubed pump drive.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
