The parts book for the Twenty-Eight and the other tractors based on the L/Pl Twenty lists one of the generators as the Delco model 953-R. Mine had a 953-U on it, and I wanted to see what the differences were, so I pulled out the Delco book and looked. Here are the pages showing the parts for all of the 953 generators.
The highlighted parts are parts that are the same between the R and the U. I was able to find a rewound armature this morning, which I am going to need as the inside of my generator is a mess. The picture is after I dumped all of the loose flake rust out.
