I have bought a D8h it is almost perfect in every way except the track pads. It has 26 inch pads. Would you put 26 inch pads on again ore 24 inch pads. seems the 24 are more common. This tractor has no blade I am going to pull My cat 435 scraper.
The scraper cuts 9.6 the cat is 9.3 with the 26 inch pads now. thanks Razz.

Are the pins/bushings and rails worth a new set of shoes? Have you thought of welding on grouser bars? Are you buying a used set of tracks with 24" shoes?

22/24" shoes should do just fine for pulling a scraper.

In general it is advisable to keep the track shoes inside the scraper cut so that they are not riding on the berms.....so it would seem your 24 in. option would be preferred.

The cat has all new undercarriage except they used the old pads that have been built up some time ago about 2 inch bar height some pads have chunks out and the overlap is shot. Razz.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
