Come home with this last weekend saved from the scrap yard. Father has pulled the heads off and found that we will be fitting another piston. Will be pulling the sump soon to look at the bottom end pics to come.

Interesting trailer tire choice. Does only one axle have brakes? Got a picture of the tow vehicle and trailer together?

Hi RC,
great save Mate.
S/No 4H 3001-up D8800 Industrial Engines came out from 1936 thru until April 5 1939, rated at up to 80HP.
Even has the elusive Bill of Materials number to tell you what the engine consist parts are, that is if The Dealer still has the old book with them in.
Our Dealer tossed the book when the BOM's came out on Microfiche--little realising that the MF's continued on from where the book ended!!!!
Enjoy it and keep us in the loop with its restoration etc.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Have the heads off bit hard to see in the pic but number 3 piston has lost a ring going to be a long slow job but long term gold is to use D8800 to start the D397 engine.

Pulled the sump and rolled the engine on its side removed all the other pistons to find that they are broken as well. Have a 3T engine later model looking at pulling the pistons out of that I know that they are different in skirt length.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
