While not sure about 14A. Earlier 8's have an adjustable bottom anchor point for the yoke with a bolt through the bottom of the case to secure it. If this is not adjusted correctly it will give the symptoms you describe.

suggest to re-adjust the steering clutch linkages again as described in the Grey Operation and Maintenance Instruction Book, mine is Form No 31390, Dated 3-55.
When I have time I will scan and post if you do not have these instructions.
Of importance is the free travel in the operators steer levers as these can be way out if the rubber bumpers for the lever stops are crushed--deteriorated.
I do not have a 14A Service Manual for procedure to check/adjust if the booster internal levers have free play to the actuator pistons.
Somewhere to start.
