Hi, Cameron Koehn.

It'z bin a LONG time since I had anything to do with wunna them but I think your air cleaner izzan early dry type. If so, the bottom pan would be a dust collector and the next section up the actual 'cleaner' section.

Geez, I must be losing my memory faster than I thought 'coz it'z only been about 53 years since I had to service wunna them and I can't remember how. I DO remember that it was on an early 235 HP D8H inna local county gravel pit in Western Australia - if that helps.

Can't help with the oil filters.

Sorry.

Just my 0.02

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Yes on the oil filter part numbers. I suppose some day there will be one that some one put that top on a by pass filtering base just because. But since you have at least part of the history on this machine, you can rest assured that things were done to improve its function not just keep it in the field with the first part found.

I have a 9u D6 fitted with that air cleaner or maybe even one size larger. It is massive. Yes you start at the bottom and then the middle section to get the filters out. It was mounted in the normal position in the dash, but the top is sticking way up higher than the hood. The bottom just has room to come out not a bit of extra. Which in the case of my tractor points to one mechanic in this area, known to have his ways to get just a little more out of tractors he cared for.
