The idler collar on the left side was cracked when i bought it and needs replaced [1F8280]. I can find the collar and seals needed easily but I'm trying to figure out what will go into this project.

If I look at the parts book it appears that I can just remove the stuff on the exterior side of the idler and throw on the new items, but it sounds too simple. Can anyone confirm that is accurate, or am I looking and taking tracks off and removing the idler completely to swap that collar. Pic from part book attached for reference. The servicemens nor the operators book has any details I could find on replacing just that part, only the idler itself.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for letting me know. A follow up question, how important is that collar assembly for undercarriage longevity? I may have understated the damage it isn't cracked it's split at the top. I figure it's pretty important and worth the hassle of splitting the tracks.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
