Hi everyone,
I got the D7 home. Runs OK, slobbers a little, drained 4 gal of water out of trans and refilled with oil and used it for 30 min or so.
I knew the rails were sloppy on the Right side, but they were REAL worn.
track came off, I got it on once, then came off again, almost got it on.....then it came really off.
I'll probably get it back on somehow, but might as well look for a rail for that side. Sprockets are OK, idler is not great.
Would the tracks off a late model 963 fit? They have an 8" pitch and I found some on ebay.
This is just for use around the farm. The L side rail is good.
Anyone have a R side rail for a 17a or ideas on what would fit?
Help, its not doing any good sitting.
thanks for the interesting site.

If you get stuck for Cat rails (chains?) Komatsu D65 rails are the same. I fitted them to a 17A and they are within millimetres of the Cat rails/chains and run fine.

There's a thread on here with the details some where.

The 8.00" pitch D6, 963 and Komatsu D60, D65 and D66 all use the same Cat link assemblies.
Check the number of link assemblies required.
Dimensions of the D7 links are a little different on a few items but certainly close enough to work.
Otherwise you are limited to rails from the 7M, 3T, 17A.

I see some new rails on Portland Craigslist. Listed as caterpillar parts. Good luck. Charlie

Note says Cat & Komatsu shoe bolt hole patterns are not interchangeable.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
