Good evening, Has any body had any issues with transmission priority valves On D6 R tractors ?
Test pressure gauge is reading a low pressure, 120psi as opposed to 420. The solenoid reduces the pressure and electrically works ok. I'm wondering if mechanically, it is seized.

Gordon with the back plate off you can see into the valves and the clutch packs, so you need to look for the big oil fountain and do a flow test on the oil feed line if things start to become a mistery, the pump is easy to remove, sit in the seat and look up you will see 3 plastic plugs, they are for lift eyes to screw in, the 1 on the left is for the implement pump the mid 1 is for the torque case the 1 on the right is to dangle the transmission pump off, the transmission can be removed easily without the bevel gear section, the repair of them is faily simple, to drain the oil hook a line onto the test port with the end in a barrel with the engine running, then look for a lanky chap to reach in through the back case to un plug the conectors ref' the wiring, then undo a few bolts and pull on a few bits, easy.

Thanks for the reply Tony. Main pressure was 450. All clutch pressures were spot on except Clutch 3 had only 70 psi. Transmission was overheating. We pulled the whole lot out as I want to check the crown wheel, pinion and transfer gears. When i checked the priority valve pressure it showed only 120 psi but should have been over 400. Solenoid is for pressure reduction so even if it wasn't working we should have had much higher pressure. Oil cooler was halfway blocked so that's been removed and washed through. Whole of the planetary is in good nick so new seals and needle rollers and maybe the odd bearing I think. We'll pull the priority valve off and strip it tomorrow. I rebuilt TC and pump last year after we had engine oil transfer through crank seal. Full set of seals and o'rings, needles and thrusts is £1600 from finnings. Not too bad i thought.
