My D6c final drive has a "clunk" when backing up a slope and reversing direction unless I idle clear down and come to a complete stop. The final drive oil is heavily contaminated with brass particles. There shouldn't be any brass components in the finals but from a little research there are some aftermarket bearings that had brass bearing cages on the pinion bearings.
I'm having trouble finding anyone to work on the machine, partly because they think it will be more expensive than it's worth. The tractor is in good working order otherwise and has new undercarriage. I'd tackle it myself if I could find a set of hydraulic pullers for the sprockets and steering clutch flanges, which seem to be pretty scarce. Has anyone had any experience with this company? http://www.maruma.jp/pdt_ct_st.html
I see the same parts listed on Alibaba : https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Portable-Hydraulic-Track-Press-to-Remove_60672792617.html
Not much specific info about the tools so it might be difficult to get the right parts.
I’m not speaking from experience on your exact job, but my husband and I have situated our hydraulic jack in a way that would pull those wheels off. So you can definitely save that tool money. And I have not idea why it is clucking as you describe but I could strictly guess there is a bearing completely worn out. It has allowed your brass inwards also to wear excessively but the new bearings should align things up to last a lot longer. I suggest 120 to140 weight gear oil for this. I am happy you undercarriage is really good. Great day sir,,
how about you check the u-joints between the engine and transmission?
If you buy all the new pullers you need you will spend about twice what your tractor is worth.
