Saturday we were able to extract the d69u. It rolled with no issues and even with the lever being stiff the right steering clutch worked. Did not try the left. Loading was very uneventful. Short of pulling it is there any way of determining if the main engine is stuck? The pony is loose but I was told it was bad. I know not to assume. Can I engage pinion and turn pony by hand to turn over the main? Any help is appreciated.

Left track looks a little tight to me but should probably be run a while. I am missing the rock shields and a shield that mounts under the engine. I will do some checking but anyone close to Nebraska have a good pony for sale?

Flip the compression release to start and the big engine should turn easy with the fan. Make sure the master clutch is disengaged also.

Nice looking 9U!

I am probably just impatient, but with that farm tractor there, unless there was water in the oil, I would have had it spinning as it came off the trailer. Just have to remember the reverser lever is pushed Forward to go backwards and does not work in 5th ! Get it wrong and you get air breather oil on your shoes!

Good luck and please keep the updates coming!

I agree, if the main engine turns check all fluids and give it a pull start. Just roll for a bit with the compression release on till you see oil pressure.

They can be hard to turn with the fan if belt is loose or pulley warn. The crankshaft is not to hard to get to if no front pump or cable unit. A socket with long extension.

Can also be turned in the clutch compartment on the dry clutch,if it turns grease the 3 fittings. The hard to see one in the fly wheel. So you need to turn engine to find it unless you are lucky and it is up to begin with. Wet clutch unit can be turned at the universal joint.

Update. Using the information from here my father pulled the cover off of the clutch area and was able with a little difficulty and stiffness it turned. We are going to change the oil and filter. I am going to take the cover off of the fuel rail and spray down. It has not run in 15 years. Any thing else before fire up? Grease all. Fill with coolant.

The main clutch works and breaks over nicely.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
